A funnel neck is a collar that stands straight up from the shoulders and does not fold over. It is cut a little wider than your neck, so it stands clear of the throat. What a funnel neck actually is
Every neckline comes down to two things: how high the collar rises, and whether it touches your neck.
A funnel neck rises, usually a few centimetres of rib, and stops without folding. It is cut wider than your neck, so it leans out instead of hugging in. That gap is the point: warmth at the neck without the feeling of something closed around it.
A good funnel neck holds its shape rather than drooping, which is why it is almost always ribbed.

Why the quarter zip changes how a funnel neck wears
On its own, a funnel neck is a fixed shape. Add a zip and the collar becomes adjustable.

The 50 cm chest is a medium, the 65 cm body sits between small and medium, and the 60 cm sleeve is our shortest. If you wear L or bigger, this one will not fit.

Who a funnel neck suits, and where it does not work
It works if
- You want a warm neck without a turtleneck. The collar stands clear, so it never feels tight.
- You wear an overcoat. It fills the gap a scarf would, and looks deliberate.
- You want one sweater for the whole day. Zipped outside, half open at a desk, open in a warm room.
- Crew necks feel a little cold at the neck and V-necks colder still.
It does not work if
- You wear it under a sport coat or blazer. The standing collar fights the jacket collar. A crew neck cashmere sweater gives a cleaner line.
- You wear a shirt and tie under your knitwear. That is a V-neck job.
- You wear L or bigger. It comes in one free size only.
- You want a choice of colour. It comes in Muted Grey-Blue only.
